SA - TA - NA - MA Meditation is becoming scientifically recognized as a powerful tool for increasing all aspects of cognitive function (perception, thinking, reasoning, remembering) as well as for stress reduction. The Canadian Alzheimer Society is now recommending this meditation as a daily practice to enhance short term memory and slow down the effects of Alzheimer's disease. The SA - TA - NA - MA sounds come from one of the oldest Sanskrit mantras Sat Nam = my "true essence" or "true identity". SA - TA - NA - MA is an acknowledgement of the circle of life (birth, life, death, rebirth or the infinite). When toning the sounds in combination with particular hand gestures or mudras, we invite the following interpretations to manifest: SA - thumb and index finger; seal of knowledge / expanded field of possibilities TA - thumb and middle finger; seal of patience NA - thumb and ring finger; seal of vitality and aliveness MA - thumb and pinky finger; seal of mental clarity and clear communication
